My name is Alicia Swinney and I am the CEO of Miracles & Wonders Developmental Services.  I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. After graduating, I was Coordinator of the Early Intervention program on Ft. McClellan Base in Anniston, Al before it closed in 1997-1999. I have worked as a preschool special needs teacher since 1999.  As a preschool special needs teacher, I served children with mild to profound needs. In addition to my college degrees, I have certifications for First Aid/CPR, Safe Crisis Management, Mental Health Coaching, and Parent Coaching. I volunteer at my church as Children’s Ministry Leader for ages 2-12 where we use my faith based learning curriculum. I am a foster parent with Russell County DHR and have opened my home to over 20 children ages birth to 12 over the past 7 years.

I have two children of my own. My 14 year old son and my 12 year old daughter who I adopted in 2019. I understand the joys and challenges that come with raising a child with special needs because my daughter has spina bifida and total blindness. My goal is to empower all parents and children to be their best self and to seek power over pity in all stages of life.
